O Solitude! If I must with thee dwell,

哦，孤独！如果我和你必须同住，

Let it not be among the jumbled heap,

但愿不住在叠架的一栋灰楼里，

Of murky buildings; climb with me the steep,

请跟我一同攀登陡峰，

Nature's observatory - whence the dell，

踏上大自然的瞭望台，看山谷，

Its flowery slopes, its river's crystal swell，

河水亮晶晶，草坡上野花满布，

May seem a span; let me thy vigils keep

'Mongst boughs pavilion'd, where the deer's swift leap

Startles the wild bee from the fox-glove bell.

使野蜂受惊，从毛地黄花丛飞出。

But though I'll gladly trace these scenes with thee,

虽然我愉快地伴着你寻访美景，

Yet the sweet converse of an innocent mind,

可是同纯洁的心灵亲切交往，

Whose words are images of thoughts refin'd,

听精妙思想形成的语言形象，

Is my soul's pleasure;and it sure must be,

是我心魂的乐事；而且我相信

Almost the highest bliss of human-kind,

这几乎是人类能有的最高乐趣，

When to thy haunts two kindred spirits flee.
