    exalt    /ɪɡˈzɑːlt/

    v. exalt somebody (to something) to make somebody rise to a higher rank or position, sometimes to one that they do not deserve

    提拔(到某个等级或职位),有时候并不是他们应得的。

    Eg. His son was exalted to a high position in the company through family connections.

    Difference between Modest and Humble

    Modest和Humble的区别:

    Modest refers to a person's opinion of themselves.

    Modest一般指一个人对自己的看法,谦虚。

    Humble refers to a person's behavior with respect to others.

    Humble一般指一个人谦卑、尊重他人、时刻像别人学习。

    另一种解释:

    being modest refers to your behavior; being humble refers to your ego.

    Modest指行为;Humble指内在。

    如:Dressing modestly 穿着不高调,但得体。
