Just a brother

Today we are going to learn a new lesson. First, let's turn to page 34 and please look at the words and expressions in activity 1. Do you know their meanings? The first one punish, support, admire, have arguments

compete against：If I compete against you, I try to be more successful or better than you.

cooperate with: work together to achieve sth

judge: form an opinion about sb in an unfair or criticle way. in Chinese 品头论足

Which words or expression do you think can be used to describe your relationship with your family members.

Do your parents punish you when you do something wrong? When you disagree with your parents do you always agrue with them? Do you any family members who are good at something and you admire him or her?  Does anyone want to share your relationship with your family members?

2. Predict

Please look at the title of our article and the picture. From the picture we can see two men are running and from the title we know maybe the two men are brothers.  One of the brothers is helping the other one running becauae he is putting his arm around his brother.

Pridict which of the words can be applied to the brothers' relationship.

Ⅰ  Please read first paragraph carefully and answer the following questions.

Here final is used as a noun. It means the last and the most important game in a competiton. So the final game is very important for the two brothers. If they win, they will be the winner. However, if they lose, they will be losers. Unluckily, something bad happended.

Jonny is the younger brother. His older brother brother had to choose: to win the game or to help his brother.

Ⅱ Let's read paragraph 2 and find out the old brother alistair's choice and what did he do ?

Did they win the competition? What the result?

Please pay attention to these verbs. Looking at these words, can you repeat Alistair's action? From these words, what kind relationship between the two brothers?
