- AND ADAM knew Eve as his wife, and she became pregnant and bore Cain; and she said, I have gotten and gained a man with the help of the Lord.
- And [next] she gave birth to his brother Abel. Now Abel was a keeper of sheep, but Cain was a tiller[1] of the ground.
- And in the course of time Cain brought to the Lord an offering[2] of the fruit of the ground.
- And Abel brought of the firstborn of his flock[3] and of the fat portions. And the Lord had respect and regard for Abel and for his offering,
- But for Cain and his offering He had no respect or regard. So Cain was exceedingly angry and indignant[4], and he looked sad and depressed.
- And the Lord said to Cain, Why are you angry? And why do you look sad and depressed and dejected?
- If you do well, will you not be accepted? And if you do not do well, sin crouches at your door; its desire is for you, but you must master it.
- And Cain said to his brother, Let us go out to the field. And when they were in the field, Cain rose up against Abel his brother and killed him.
- And the Lord said to Cain, Where is Abel your brother? And he said, I do not know. Am I my brother’s keeper?
- And [the Lord] said, What have you done? The voice of your brother’s blood is crying to Me from the ground.
- And now you are cursed by reason of the earth, which has opened its mouth to receive your brother’s [shed] blood from your hand.

- 第一句奇怪,伊娃说的得到的“男人”是谁?阿当还是凯恩?如果说是凯恩,上帝帮啥了?
- 阿伯是羊倌,但凯恩是耕夫。凯恩是耕夫为啥要有个BUT?对农业有歧视,因为中东地区不适合农业?
- The Lord 明显不喜欢凯恩,为什么? 是羊肉好吃,胜过果蔬、谷物?
- 阿当和伊娃被逐出伊甸园,但是他们的子孙还是向 The Lord 上贡。伊娃被诅咒生子必痛,伊娃也还看 The Lord 是帮之。人之贱,何以越此!
- 当日伊甸园中未见阿当、伊娃有供奉之事,反而有见而藏避之。然 The Lord 定其罪,未见言及此事,真不意乎?难以出口乎?
- 伊娃生二子阿伯时,何以不言得上帝之助?
- 生阿伯后,阿当与伊娃使命既成,虽未死,然亦不再正面叙之。后文叙凯恩妻时,有注曰为阿当嗣。可见阿当、伊娃尚存,且又生育。
- The Lord 使凯恩怒。但是凯恩只敢表现出悲伤和沮丧而不敢言。更不要说反抗 The Lord 了。凯恩不敢生上帝的气,却迁怒自己的弟弟,最后酿成悲剧。可怜可悲。
- 愤怒又不能或不敢发作,即会抑郁(depress),真乎、假乎?能以此疗抑郁?防治呢?
- The Lord 曰:“若尔非善,罪入汝户,此乃汝欲所求,汝当降服之。”这没问题,但是当一个人“已经做得很好了,但还不被接受”,怎么办?上帝不曾有答。
- 《左传•郑伯克段于焉》人多评郑伯姑息以害其弟。以此观 The Lord 不亦宜乎?子曰言“四恶”,其首即“不教而杀谓之虐。”The Lord 何曾爱凯恩?虐之却甚,故恶之极。以此观,The Lord 为一“转轮王”亦差胜。

- 第11,12则,The Lord 之言亦含混。因凯恩之手而地之口张,非言犁地之事乎?
- 此当日有“去牧为田”乎?凯恩以此而死阿伯乎?
- Lord 亦有地主意,Keeper 显然非兽群之主人,耕夫呢?游牧之初,人之劳作仅限于使兽不逃不散而已,其丰歉,人力能为者稀。农业当先有可为,率先摆脱靠天吃饭。以此而为上之不悦乎?
