You don’t want to be stuck in the same place forever. After all, this process is about growth and continuous improvement. Eventually, you want to graduate to accepting powerful, positive thoughts about yourself — and allowing those to run your life.
The way you do this is incrementally. It can look like this:
- “Relationships never work out for me.”
- “I’ve been through a handful of relationships that didn’t work out, but I learned something from each one.”
- “I’m seeing that I need to commit to people who value the same things I do.”
- “I am willing to work at being better at relationships.”
- “Relationships can be tough, but I will become stronger.”
- “I am improving at relationships.”
- “I am constantly working on being better at relationships.”
- “I am getting pretty great at relationships.”
- “I am great in relationships.”
The point is that you don’t try to jump from the first thought to the last thought all at once. If you tried to go that fast, you’d simply reject it because you know it’s not true. Be gradual and thoughtful about building a ladder from the first thought to the last.
