I chose to file the documents for the hospital and serve the poor dinner in Catholic DInah hall as my community service.
The hospital is the place my host mother work at. It is a hospital for children mental health. My host mother is a doctor there. She helps these kids who have mental diseases. She was really glad to hear me that I want to help the kids, and gave me a chance to help her file the documents for these kids. So i went the hospital and i saw a lot kids. They look normal, but majority of them don’t have enough money to pay for mental diseases. The only thing they depend on is insurance. The insurance helps them pay less money, but also cause the salary of doctor there won’t be that high. Some of them are stressful for the school and cannot go to school; some of them have a bad family environment that they feel so despair, so on and so forth. After I saw this, i really want to help them. Certainly the only work I can do is to file these documents. There is a little bit difference between reality and my thought. I think it must be pretty easy and I want to help them more, even though I don’t know how to start it. However, filing the documents is dull and easy to make a mistake, then I don’t have any other extra mind to think about other things. Also, through the process of filing the documents I know it can help doctor know better about their conditions. Though it’s a minor thing, it is meaningful! And I knew a good person through this process, I just cannot remember her name, but because of her, I made less mistake. We had a good corporation. I really enjoy this community service.
