Vocabulary:

1. drape: to put sth sw so that it hangs or lies loosely

原文：Consider all the prepositions that are draped onto verbs that don’t need any help

造句：The coat draped over the chair.

2. blunt: to make a feeling less strong

原文：he blunts the painful edge of truth

造句：Its tedious plot blunted my enthusiasm for it.

3. Is anything pompous or pretentious or faddish?

pompous:品位低而炫耀的，绚丽的    同义gaudy, tinseled

pretentious:自命不凡的，矫饰的，虚夸的

faddish: 赶时髦的，一时流行的

Reflection:

Clutter这一章在讲simplify的事情，作者举了很多例子，很精彩。但是联想到鲁迅的那句“家门口有两棵树，一棵是枣树，另一棵，也是枣树”这句话看似很像clutter，其实可以理解为强调或者情怀或者可视化？就像第一章提到的“humanity and warmth”，写作大概要平衡好humanity 和 simplify以及很多。

深有体会，尤其是读了前两本传记，传记中有很多小词用的都超级赞，反而很少见到长词。

Style一章引入了写作风格一说，很戳痛点。的确每个优秀的作家都有自己的风格。而形成自己的风格并不容易。
