《菜根谭》20

天道忌盈，卦终未济

(Heaven avoid surplus, hexagram is not good)

【原文】

事事留个有余不尽的意思，便造物不能忌我，鬼神不能损我。若业必求满，功必求盈者，不生内变，必召外忧。(Everything has more than the meaning, then the creation can not avoid me, ghosts and gods can not harm me. If the karma must be full, the merit must seek the surplus, does not produce the internal change, must call the external worry.)

【大意】

不论作任何事都要留有余地，就是不要做得太绝，这样造物的上帝不会嫉妒我，甚至于最愿与人恶作剧的鬼也不会伤害我。假如一切事物都要求达到尽善尽美的地步，一切功劳都达到登峰造极的境界，即使不为此而发生内乱，也必为此而招致外患。

【学究】

满招损，谦受益，是《易经》谦卦的核心，也是未济卦的核心。这两卦说出了人世间的为人处事方式，要和天道相应，不能过于苛求，也不能过于奢求，留有余地，才能使自己不受太大的压力。
