今天是12月7日，77年前的今天，珍珠港事变爆发，美国正式以同盟国的一员加入了世界反法西斯战争。至此，第二次世界大战达到了最大规模。
珍珠港事变
对于已经坚持抗击日本法西斯的侵略长达十年有余的中国来说，美国的参战无异于一针“强心剂”。尽管抗战在太平洋战争爆发后更加艰苦卓绝，但来自美国的援助却不能不说是一阵“外面吹来的风”。七十多年后的今天，我们已经无法想象，如果没有美国的援助和美军在世界各地的搏杀，包括中国抗战在内的世界反法西斯战争会是怎样的一种结局。
众所周知，美国在二次大战期间为包括中国在内的同盟国提供了难以用语言和数字来描述的巨额援助。除了物质层面的援助（武器、弹药、燃油、人员衣食住行所需的消耗、各种战略资源···）以外，美国独一无二的“文化软实力”也支撑着世界人民的反侵略斗争。
美军援华抗战
《星条旗》（The Star-Spangled Banner ）是美英战争（1812~1815）期间美国军队的一首军歌，由约翰·斯坦福德·史密斯（John Stafford Smith，1750~1836）作曲，弗朗西斯·斯科特·基（Francis Scott Key，1779~1843）作词。美英战争是美国建立后的第一次对外战争，新生的美利坚合众国在战争中经受住了考验，经过三年艰苦卓绝的战斗，美军恢复了战前的美国与大英帝国北美属地边界，捍卫了独立战争的成果。美国的国际威望得到极大提高，民众的爱国热情也得到了极大鼓舞。后来，这首歌成为了美利坚合众国的国歌。
美英战争
《星条旗》歌词有四段，但通常情况下只唱第一段。歌词全文如下：
Oh, say can you see by the dawn's early light, what so proudly we hailed at the twilight's last gleaming?

Now it catches the gleam of the morning's first beam, in full glory reflected now shines in the stream:

近代以来，包括西方音乐文化在内的”欧风美雨“不断冲击着古老中国三千多年的传统。一批批先进的中国人也开始尝试在传统与近代中寻求救国救民之道，其中不乏中西合璧的优秀成果。1937年淞沪会战期间，著名音乐家赵元任先生为”八百壮士“英勇杀敌的和女童子军杨惠敏泅渡苏州河为守军送国旗的英雄壮举所感染，借助美国国歌的旋律填写了一首《苏州河北岸的大国旗》，传唱一时。
