该口语测试的Part 2的题目是:Describe a book you would like to write. Part 3的问题承接Part 2的内容,这里有9个问题,一般正常考试来说,问的问题没有那么多,这里多一些问题,是为了多方位地练习。

Part 3  Follow-up Questions

1. Who will this book appeal to? (Taking a cookbook for example.)

This book will appeal to food lovers and those who want to cook some sumptuous dishes. It would also appeal to those who want to learn cooking, because I would be writing it in very simple words and adding some pictures too.

2. How will this impact the readers?

The readers will learn many tips and tricks of cooking. They will be able to cook some really mouth-watering dishes.

3. Who will you dedicate the book to?

I will dedicate this book to my grandmother, of course. Although I will be translating her recipes and adding some pics, ultimately she has done the whole work and she deserves the credit.

4. Do you think writing a book is easy or hard? Why?

To be honest, I think writing a book is a challenging task. Because it is a lot of work. Firstly, you’ve got to have a plan as well as the perseverance to finish it. Secondly, you must make sure that what you write is meaning, intriguing and enlightening so that your readers like to read it. Thirdly, you need to read or practice a lot and thus have abundant knowledge in a certain field to make your book professional and special.

5. What types of books are famous in your country?

In my country, people read all sorts of books which provide new knowledge and entertainment. Reading choices can be divided according to the age groups. Firstly, children prefer cartoons and storybooks; young folks love to read about sports, celebrities, business, and new technology, while the old age group mostly read about culture, agriculture as well as politics and economy.

6. Have some people around you ever written a book?

Yes. One of my classmates has written a book on coding. I never read that book because I am not interested in coding. However, I think it is cool to have a book written by yourself.

7. Are there lots of people who are eager to write their own books at your school/ workplace?

As far as I know, no. In my school, there is a lot of schoolwork, and everybody seems pretty busy. Even if someone harbors the idea to write a book,  very probably they cannot manage to have time to turn that into reality.

8. What are the benefits of reading books? How about writing books?

Nowadays humans read fewer books due to their busy schedule, but reading books is a very beneficial and good hobby for everyone. When we read different sorts of books, we know more about new cultures, cities, countries, rules, education and many more things. Besides, it is very helpful to enhance cognitive  and communication skills.

Writing books is even more meaningful in my understanding. In contrast to reading, which is more of a passive activity, writing is a creative activity and it enriches our culture and knowledge to a much greater extent.

9. What is the relationship between reading and writing?

Research has found that when children read extensively, they become better writers. Reading a variety of genres helps children learn text structures and language that they can then transfer to their own writing. In addition, reading provides young people with prior knowledge that they can use in their writing.

Studies has also shown that when students receive writing instruction, their reading fluency and comprehension skills improve.  In a word, reading and writing is inseparable and they can strengthen each other.
