    tuck away :

    1、藏起来

    e.g You are best to tuck your money away where no one will be able to touch it.

    2、畅饮;大吃

    e.g The boy can tuck away a lot of food in one meal.

    assume:

    1、毫无根据的假设(to think that something is true, although you do not have definite proof)

    e.g I didn't see your car, so I assumed you'd gone out

    2、承担

    e.g He will assume the role of managing director.

    ditch:

    1、扔掉不想要的东西(to stop having something because you no longer want it )

    e.g I have ditched the photos we took together.

    2、结束一段关系;抛弃(to end  a romantic relationship with someone)

    e.g He and she were due to marry, but she ditched him.

    3、逃课 (to not go to school, a class etc when you should );同义:skip

    e.g Did you ditch class today?

    Dawned on me突然明白过来,领悟=realize

    dawned on somebody:

    突然明白过来,领悟: (if a fact dawns on you, you realize it fr the first time)  同义:realize 

    I came up a good idea =a good idea dawned on me (主意、事实、真理做主语不能人做主语)

    Somewhere along the way =somewhere along the line在某一个时间点上

    out of /from nowhere: 突然出现(happening or appearing suddenly and without warning)

    out of  the blue : 出其不意;出乎意料 

    out of the blue/a bolt from :(news that is sudden and unexpected)

    I’m nowhere near/ anywhere near离哪都不近;八竿子打不着

    a last-ditch attempt/effort etc

    孤注一掷;最后一搏 (a final attempt to achieve something before it is too late)

    e.g She underwent a heart transplant in a last-ditch attempt to save her

    pin 

    1、责怪 pin something on somebody 

    e.g Don't try to pin the blame on me!

    2、把希望寄托于  pin your hopes/faith on something/somebody

    e.g  You shouldn't pin all your hopes on getting the job.

    3、钉住

    e.g They pinned a notice to the door

    zoom in 放大

    zoom out 缩小

    e.g You can zoom in and out of the contents of the report page.

    now’s not the time to do现在不是做某事的时候

    e.g Now's not the time to annoy Peter

    paranoid 偏执狂

    e.g I may be a jealous, possessive, paranoid person.我可能是个嫉妒心重、占有欲强又偏执的人。

    e.g I'm just feeling a little paranoid right now.我觉得点多心。

    extra careful 非常小心

    e.g Drivers are advised to take extra care.

    screw up把事情搞砸

    e.g I‘m sorry I screw up all the time!

    screw you = fuck you 

    gunk粘稠物

    booger鼻屎

    earwax耳屎

    drool口水

    snot鼻涕

    drool over垂涎三尺

    guarantee :保证(to promise to do something or to promise that something will happen)

    guarantee somebody something

    e.g If you send the application form in straight away, I can guarantee you an interview.

    guarantee to do something

    e.g The law guarantees equal rights for men and women.

    can't make head or/nor tail of something:搞不清楚;弄不明白;一头雾水

    e.g You couldn't make heads or tails of what he was saying.
