Why did Jane Eyre finally accept this relationship? What does Jane Eyre understand?
St. John made his career his first priority. He was a loyal follower of religion (Christ). He regards the religious cause as his own.He also believes that he was born with this great mission(dream). However,in the process of interaction with Jane Eyre,we found that the two sides had different views on marriage.
I can't realize that St.John has a normal view of love.He said that my wife is dedicated to God and career as an assistant. To put it bluntly was “let love be the obedient of faith”.In his view, marriage was served for great dream! And people's autonomy has become a tool. But as a person can you only act as a tool? Then what is the meaning of life? That’s why Jane Eyre cannot follow St. John to India to complete her career. There are many examples in the society now. In all the visions and "big vocabulary" ideals, people who work hard for that are numb in their hearts. This is undoubtedly a constraint on the freedom of life.
No matter how attractive a career man is, he can't keep his other half without a reasonable view of love.In her opinion, marriage is the crystallization of love and the coincidence of the hearts of both parties.Of course, she also has the spirit of dedication. At the same time, she also keeps vigilant against such lofty things as religion and career. But she will maintain relative freedom and independence in her marriage.Even for a moment, Jane Eyre almost gave up the idea of leaving because of St.John's sacred sense of mission. But when she was about to say yes,she heard Rochester's call.
Yes, Rochester is Jane Eyre's true love.Because both of them recognize the deepest self in each other and are soul mates (Byron type characters). Both of them have passion, pride and fire. And this side happens to be full of vitality and benevolence. Even if there are some discrepancies in the three views, she can see her more real self through the "mirror" of St. John. Those so-called obstacles disappeared after meeting St. John. Now Jane Eyre only thinks of Rochester.
And there is a saying in marriage:I like the one who is with you.And this is “I can present the most real myself in front of my true love”.No need to hide and nervous.Get alone easily and naturally make natural love. And is devoting herself to religion the true idea of Jane Eyre? Obviously not.
Finally, the arrival of Jane Eyre rekindles Rochester's hope for life, and at the same time, she is no longer depressed. Jane Eyre also accepts this relationship and happily acts as Rochester’s right hand. Later in life, Rochester recovered one eye under the treatment of a doctor, and the two were married and lived a happy life.
