Speaking My Life Into Existence, by Adila, from South Africa
A few years ago while completing my medical degree, we had to apply for our internships to certain hospitals. When I found out I was placed at a spot that was not where I wanted, I was devastated. I went home that afternoon, saw The Secret on my bookshelf and there and then dropped my self pity and told myself I can change this!
My colleagues and parents both told me to accept the position and that it would be OK but I knew I wasn't going to settle for it. It was unheard of for a student to receive assistance after being placed for a position they would prefer. That evening I made posters stating where I would do my internship for the year ahead and read it out aloud to myself.
The following day the supervisor at my selected location for the internship called to tell me she can not take me on and asked me where I'd prefer to be placed! Two days after the phone call I made contact with the supervisor at my preferred location and things started to materialize.
Here I now am, two years later working at the spot I had asked the Universe for. Till today, people ask me how it all worked out for me and who did I have favoring me and I always say Myself and The Universe.

几年前，当我完成我的医学学习时，我们必须要申请到某个医院实习。可是到了医院我发现自己并没有被安排到我想去的岗位，我难过至极。那天下午我回到家，看到书架上的《秘密》，那时刻，我抛开了自哀自怜，告诉自己我能改变这种状况。
我的同事和父母都告诉我接受这个岗位，那没什么，可是我知道这样并不能解决问题。没有听说过哪个学生得到自己喜欢的岗位后还需要接受帮助的。那天晚上我发了一个帖子，陈述了自己下一年将去哪里实习，并大声地读了出来。
第二天，我实习所选岗位的主管打电话给我，说不能带我，问我喜欢哪个岗位！两天后我联系我喜欢的那个岗位的主管，梦想变成现实。
两年后的此时此刻，我就在当初我想要的岗位上。直至今天，人们常问我，这个事情是怎么发生的，我有什么人在帮我？我始终说是我自己和老天帮我。
