    本文以剑9test3大作文为例,探讨论点中心句的n种写法。

    剑9test3大作文题目是

    “是否支持将社区义务劳动纳入高中必修课程。”

    wingo在网上找了一篇相关文章:

    12 Reasons Community Service

    Should Be Required in Schools

    文章主要阐述社区志愿者活动的必要性。

    一共讲了12条,以下是每一条的中心句。

    其实每句话的大意都是“社区志愿活动可以怎样怎样”,

    但是作者像变戏法一样12个原因用了12种不同的表达。

    为了便于分析,wingo调整了顺序。

    一、以话题的行为做主语

    Creating a lifelong habit of community service can help students become more healthy over the course of a lifetime.

    Taking part in community service teaches students skills that are valuable to employers.

    Participating in community service allows students to build upon their existing skill sets.

    Volunteering allows students to take what they've learned and apply it beyond the classroom.

    这道题目探讨社区志愿活动,涉及的行为就是“参加志愿活动”。因此以上三种采取动名词做主语形式,表示参加志愿活动能怎样怎样。

    PS: 要表达“……能使人……”,不一定用enable,help/allow人家用的好好的。

    二、以话题的主体做主语+定语从句限定

    Students who participate in community service learning tend to do better in school.

    Students who do community service work learn that they can actually make a difference with what they do.

    Students who participate in volunteering opportunities may be able to find more scholarships than they would without such experience.

    Youths who take part in volunteering activitiesbecome more involved intheir communities, and as a result, tend to care more about what happens in those communities.

    以上四句以参与志愿活动的主体“students”做主语,用定语从句带入参与社区活动的概念;为避免students过多重复,以youths进行替换。

    PS:虽然这四个句子一个比一个长,但他们都是simple sentences。

    雅思写作grammatical range评分标准这样说:

    6分::uses a mix of simple and complex sentence forms.

    7分:uses a variety of complex structures.

    8分:uses a wide range of sructures.

    三、以从句带出所要讨论问题

    As students work within their community, they learn that they can be responsible for making great things happen.

    As students work in community service programs, they'll learn how to better work in teams.

    以上两句以as引导的从句引出学生参与社区志愿活动,主句中learn之后的从句形式也富于变化。

    四、以话题的主体做主语+by引导的状语限定

    By working through them as a volunteer, they learn how to better solve problems, and enjoy the satisfaction of overcoming a hurdle.

    还是以学生做主语,用by引导的状语加以限定。

    五、以探讨话题的客体做主语

    Community service opens students up toa wealth of networking opportunities, allowing them to build new relationships within their community as they contribute.

    纯纯的以名词“社区志愿服务”做主语,展开论述,但后面的分词结构allowing~~和as引导的从句增加了句子的复杂性。
