我们新开设“英国奇闻趣事集”专栏，由可鑫来给大家介绍发生在英国的各种奇怪有趣的事情，其中有真实事件，也有在英国闻名的传说。
我们选取的第一个奇闻是苏格兰的尼斯湖水怪。2017年，英国的一个电视频道做了一次全国性调查，让大众投票对英国有名的神秘事物和悬疑事件进行排名。尼斯湖水怪排名第一。尼斯湖怪兽传说不仅受英国人关注，也被收入世界十大谜团。尼斯湖水怪给人凶狠的形象，却有一个与其形象很不匹配的可爱昵称“尼西”。
尼斯湖水怪的传说每年都吸引数以百万记的游客前往尼斯湖，是苏格兰旅游业的支柱。几年前，谷歌也来凑这个热闹，用街景拍摄装置沿尼斯湖拍摄景象，还派出潜水员潜入湖底拍摄，让不能亲临尼斯湖的尼西迷们也能一圆心愿。我多年前到尼斯湖游览时未能一睹尼西的风采，不知我们游览过尼斯湖的读者是否与尼西有过一面之缘呢？对我而言，是否见到尼西不打紧，尼斯湖的旖旎风光本身就很值得一游！

The Loch Ness monster is now officially the greatest unexplained mystery in the UK - with legends of the so-called mythical beast known far and wide. In 2017, the story of the Loch Ness monster topped a poll of the UK's greatest unexplained mysteries.
尼斯湖水怪（那只远近闻名的传奇野兽）的传说现在被正式评为英国的最大谜团。尼斯湖水怪的故事在2017年的一个对英国神秘事物和悬疑事件的投票排行榜中名列第一。
Nessie is often described as a creature being large in size, with a long neck and one or more humps. It was first ‘spotted’ back in 565 – a biography of an Irish monk Saint Columba mentioned a giant ‘water beast’ dragging a man to his death in Scotland's River Ness.However, wider interest in the monster was not sparked until 1933 after a road was built along the loch, making it far less isolated. Within months, several people came forward claiming to have seen a giant beast lurking near the water.

There have now been over 1,000 reported sightings, and as the legend gathered popularity, Nessie became the subject of a host of documentaries and feature films.
关于目睹尼斯湖水怪出没的报道至今已过千。由于尼西的传说非常出名，很多纪录片和电影都以它作题材。
Nobody has yet proved that the Loch Ness Monster is real – but that certainly hasn’t stopped people trying. Many pictures claiming to show Nessie have been exposed as pranks. It has also been claimed that sightings of Nessie are caused by misidentifying inanimate objects. Tree trunks, logs and optical effects caused by wind conditions have all been suggested.
至今还没有人能证实尼斯湖水怪的真实性。然而，人们不断地尝试证实尼西的存在。很多尼西的照片却被揭露只是恶作剧一场，而很多其他声称目睹尼西真面目的报道被则被认为是人们把各种非生物误认为是尼西，例如树干、圆木等还有风的原因造成视觉错误。
The scientific community regards the Loch Ness Monster as a phenomenon without biological basis, and many of the theories of what REALLY dwells in Loch Ness are based on people mistaking other large animals or objects for Nessie.
科学界认为尼斯湖水怪传说是没有生物根据的，大部分都是由于人们把一些大型的动物或物体错误看成是尼西。
