Poppy looks so gorgeous and seductive. The glowing redness of it reduces your resistance bit by bit. After it catches your eye successfully, it sends forth poisonous odour. The odour will confuse you mentally and physically. Then you gradually lose your consciousness and the ability to defend, and then the Coup De Grâce. It gives you the last blow, and there you are, laying still without breath.

Sometimes ugliness will disguise itself as beauty, for example, poppy. It looks beautiful, but it is actually a ruthless killer. Therefore, in order to keep our distance from disguised beauty like enticing cosmetics advertisement, soap operas which distorts the correct understanding of true love, video games that bewilders the border between reality and fantasy and etc., we have to fight with the lust of the eyes. It is one of the biggest temptations that we face.
Through our visual sense, we see both beauty and ugliness. Ugliness will cause us to stumble. The best solution of overcoming it is
to stay focused,
meaning knowing what is real beauty. But if one of our eyes cause us to stumble,
gouge it out,
meaning you are decisive to battle against ugliness till your last breath. Visual sense is the simplest and the most irrational sense. By relying solely on our visual sense, we can't make a sound judgement. Why disguised beauty is so tempting because it never tells you the whole story, but part of it. Or it just distorts truth blatantly. So in order to survive and conquer the lust of eyes, visual sense has to work with our critical mind.
One of my favorite quotes is from Socrates: an unexamined life is not worth living. Thinking and questioning are paramount for one's well-being. In conclusion, please think critically and see discerningly.
