Cold wind blew on Paul’s face, like an invisible hand that slapped him. Everything is dark, the only thing he can see is balck. Suddenly, he noticed something was moving.
Paul shouted shivering, “What is there? Don’t try to scare me, I’m not afraid of you!”
A man in a black hoody walked out of the dark shadow.
Paul shivered, “Who… who are you, what do you want to do?”
“Calm down, little boy, I’m not going to hurt you,” replied the mystery man walking closer to Paul.
“Don’t come any closer! I don’t know you, go away!!” shouted Paul.
“Paul, you really don’t remember me?” said the man pulling his hood off.
Paul screamed as he saw the bloody face under the hoodie.
Then, he woke up. He heard his heart pounding real hard and he can elt tears coming down from his face. He was terrified, why would he dreamed of him? He looked at the clock and it show 7:30, he jumped out of bed and get dressed. He walked downstairs, no one was there, as normal. He put on his school bag and took a piece of bread. He was about to leave home when suddenly, he felt someone looking at him. He turned around, but there's no one there. "It's just my illusion, there's no one there." he murmured to himself. Then, he went straight outside.
There’s a car outside his neighbour’s house. But no one had been living there since he moved in. Is he the owner? Or is he the new renter? Curiosity make him went closer. There’s no one in the car and there’s no one in the house. "This whole day was weird, I’ve had enough. It's over now. Who ever was doing this, stop it."
Although he was saying it confidently, he had to admit that he was a bit scared in the deepest part of hi soul. So he walked quickly to his school.
Suddenly, the engine of the car started, he turned and stared at the car. There’s still no one there. The car moved a little and start driving straight to him. BANG!! He felt light, dizzy and sleepy…
When he woke up, everything was black around him and he felt something moving. It was the man in the hoodies, he felt terrified.
The man said, “Paul, this time, you cannot escape.
Paul cried with hopelessness, “No, no, NO!!! This is a dream, this is not true. I’m going to wake up, really soon, really soon...”
The man pulled off his hoodie and the bloody face showed, again.
“Paul! Paul! Are you ok?”
“Ha...Ha...Ha…” Paul took some heavy breaths while finding himself sitting on the cold wooden floor. Shirt soaked with sweat.
“What happened, Paul?” Paul looked up and saw Janis, his mom, kneeling beside him looking very worried. He doesn’t even know when she came back.
“Nothing.” Answered Paul coldly. Even though he wants to jump into her arm and cry like what other kids do. But he can’t.
“Are you still m…” Paul cut her off before she can finish her sentence.
“Leave my room, I have to change... now.”
Janis left his room quietly; quiet enough for him to hear her sobbing.He told himself to stop thinking of it anymore but it just can’t get of his head. He walked to his closet, changed his clothes and went downstairs. He saw a nicely placed sandwich on the dining table; right beside it is a glass of milk. He suddenly burst into tears. It was the first time that she had made him breakfast since Jay died...
Paul ate his breakfast slowly. He turned and looked around his house. He caught his eye on an album, it’s old and slightly under sized. It’s the memories of the three of them. Paul Winterton, Janis Smith and Jay Winterton. The three of them had made a perfect family until one day, Jay…died.
