      Ireland is a beautiful island that located in the North Atlantic. It is separated from Great Britain to its east by the North Channel, the Irish Sea, and St George's Channel. Ireland is the third-largest island in Europe. It is called "the Emerald Isle".

Irish Culture

Celtic mythology

The history of Ireland is full of myths and legends, and Celtic mythology is the essence of Irish culture. In Ireland, people even believe that the Irish folklore itself has magic power.  If people in house chanting about heroic adventures, the devil will not enter the gate.

For a long time, Celtic myth can only be circulated orally, and the most widely known story is the story of King Arthur and the Knights of the round table.

King Arthur is the legendary king of the ancient Britain. Once it was said that he is the leader of the round table knight, and known as the the "Once and Future King"(永恒之王）. King Arthur is a figure in ancient legends. So far, there is no substantial evidence to prove that he really exists. The most famous legend of King Arthur is  the sword of stone；（石中剑）and the legend of the Holy Grail （圣杯传奇). There are also many famous figures in the stories including Merlin, cinnamon, Morgan Lily and so on, mostly from Thomas Malory's fantasy novel, "the death of King Arthur".

Nowadays, the legends of the King Arthur have become a kind of the pioneer of youth trend culture, which penetrate into various aspect such as animation, games, comics, movies, TV series and so on.

St. Patrick's Day

St. Patrick's Day is March 17th every year to commemorate St. Patrick, the patron saint of Ireland. This festival originated in Ireland in the late fifth Century. Now it has become the national day of Ireland. As Irish descendants spread all over the world, St. Patrick's day has gradually become a holiday in some countries. The United States began to celebrate in March 17, 1737. The traditional color of St. Patrick's Day is green. (In the TV series "How I Met Your Mom", I was impressed by the madness  and crazy parade of American young on the St. Patrick's Day.)

Leprechauns (小矮人)

The legend of Leprechauns (dwarf) is widely circulating in Ireland. These dwarfs are smaller  than ordinary people, but cleverer than them. They are strong and taller than the hobbits. Leprechauns lives in the forest, and they seek for gold to dig earth, and then bury the gold. Legend says that as long as we go down to the end of the rainbow, we can find that gold.(It is said that many Europe countries, people will put a leprechauns statue in their garden that can guard their garden and bring fortune to them. )

The food in Ireland

I believe food is very important in every country around the world. Now let us see the typical food in Ireland. Food  in Ireland are mainly about the crops, potatoes and cattles farmed there. Because there are many mountains and many plants which could not grow there. But the Irish people create the delicious food and pass the way of making them from one generation to generation. And that is what we see now.

The picture followed is a corner of Dublin, which I believe is really beautiful at night.

Ireland's traditional diet is very similar to the UK, which are potatoes, vegetables ,beef and breads.

There are three World Heritage Sites on the island: the Brú na Bóinne, Skellig Michael and the Giant's Causeway.

It's also called Boyne valley tombs,and it is an area in County Meath, Ireland, which includes one of the most important prehistoric landscapes. So I am sure that if you get there you would feel a sense of history.
