From the time he was a new monk at age thirteen, Suzuki's master  , called him Crooked Cucumer.

从他13岁出家做一个小和尚时，他的师傅，Gyokujun So-on Suzuki，叫他弯曲的黄瓜。

Crooked cucumbers were useless: farmers would compost them;children would use them for batting practice.

弯曲的黄瓜是无用的：农民将它作堆肥；孩子们会用他们作击球练习。

So-on told Suzuki he felt sorry for him, because he would never have any good disciples.
