The world behind the curtains was still black when I woke up unwillingly in the morning chill.
I turned over and curdled up in the blankets trying to get some warmth, but it didn’t get any better.
Hopelessly I stumbled out of bed and fumbled to turn on the heater, then drew the curtain aside a bit to wait for the belated morning.
Outside the world was as black as a midnight sea , but an angry sea with winds howling like beasts in confrontation and rains bashing so hard ,as if to destroy everything.
But the sky cleared up quickly, and the half grey and half white world somehow reduced the tense of this terrifying scene a bit by exposing it in the daylight.
The trees down the building are half naked from leaves after last night , while the other half along with their branches still fighting bravely against the wind . The ginkgo tree which also beautifully named maidenhair tree has lost all its dignity now, whose beautiful golden hair drifting by the wind everywhere, while the grotesquely willow tree dancing mockingly like a drunken lion beside it. The paths lay beneath the newly dropped leaves is untrodden so far , this sudden wroth of nature has scared off all animals including the morning people .
I looked up the calendar and noticed that today is the beginning of winter , the last sixth of china’s 24 solar terms . By the time when all those 24 solar terms done ,we are done with this year.
So Winter is coming. And it seems that Nature is putting in an excessive effort to warn us about the hardness of this upcoming season on the first day .
PS: I should prepare dumpling for lunch, as we believe that eating dumplings on the first day of winter will keep our ears from the risk of freezing off in this winter.
