Once upon a time, two men shared a hospital room. One of the men was named Frank. The other was named Tom. Frank's bed was next to a window. For exercise, he would sit up for one hour every day. But Tom had to spend all his time lying down. They talked a lot and became good friends.
从前，有两人住在医院的同一间病房，其中一个人叫 Frank，另一个叫 Tom。Frank 的床靠近窗户，为了锻炼他每天都会坐起来一小时。Tom 则必须一直躺着。他们常常聊天，于是成为了朋友。
One day, Tom said he wished he could look out the window too. After that, every time Frank sat up, he described what he saw to Tom. He talked about the animals, the people, and the beautiful colors he saw. It was Tom and Frank's favorite time of day.
有一天，Tom 说他希望也可以看看窗户外面是什么样的。在那之后，每次 Frank 坐起来后，都会和 Tom 描绘他从窗户里看到的景象。他会讲到动物、人、以及他看到的美丽色彩。 这是 Tom 和 Frank 一天中最开心的时刻。
One morning, Tom woke up and saw Frank was gone. A nurse told him that Frank had passed away. Tom was very sad. He asked the nurse to move his bed next to the window. He hoped it could cheer him up. But when Tom looked out the window, he was shocked. There was only a wall.
一天早上，Tom 醒来发现 Frank 不见了。一位护士告诉他 Frank 去世了，Tom 很伤心。他让护士把他的床挪到窗边，希望以此振作起来。但是当 Tom 看向窗外的时候，他惊呆了，他看到的只有一堵墙。
Where were all the wonderful things Frank saw, Tom wondered. He asked the nurse if the wall was new. But she said, it wasn't. She said that Frank had made up what he saw to make Tom happy.
Tom 非常疑惑，Frank 看到的那些美丽风景都去哪儿了呢？他问护士这堵墙是不是新建的，但是护士否认了，她说，Frank 看到的风景都是他编的，目的是为了让 Tom 开心。
