生命的涟漪

My grandfather took me to the fish pond on the farm when I was about seven, and he told me to throw a stone into the water.

七岁时，爷爷带我去田里的鱼塘，他叫我往鱼塘里扔一块石头。

He told me to watch the circles created by the stone. Then he asked me to think of myself as that stone.

让我观察石头激起的层层涟漪，把自己想象成那块石头。

"You may create lots of splashes（溅入） in your life, but the waves that come from those splashes will disturb the peace of others," he said.

他说：“生命中你会制造出很多水花，但这些水花引起的波浪会打破他人的平静。”

"Remember that you are responsible for what you put in your circle and that your circle will also touch many other circles.

“记住，你要对你激起的涟漪中包含的东西负责，因为你的涟漪会影响到他人的涟漪。”

"You will need to live in a way that allows the good that comes from your circle to reach others.

“你要把自己涟漪里的好带给别人，以这种方式去生活。”

The splashes that come from anger or jealousy（嫉妒） will also send those feelings to other circles. You are responsible for both."

“愤怒与嫉妒这样的情绪会波及到别人的涟漪，你要对此负责。”

That was the first time I realized that each person creates the inner peace or discord（不和） that flows out into the world.

这是我第一次意识到，每个人内心的平和或者不和，都会传播给整个世界。

We cannot create world peace if we are riddled（充斥） with inner conflict, hatred, doubt, or anger.

如果我们的内心充满矛盾、仇恨、猜疑和愤怒，也就不能给世界带来平和宁静。

We radiate the feelings and thoughts that we hold inside, whether we speak them or not.

无论我们说或不说，我们都会传播内心的感受和想法。

Whatever is splashing around inside of us is spilling out into the world, creating beauty or discord with all the other circles of life.

无论我们内心激起何种涟漪，都会影响着世界，与他人生命的涟漪共同创造出美丽，又或是不和谐。
