When I was a primary school student, for quiet a while, I was living with my grandparents. My grandma was keen on playing Mahjong, though she is not a good player at all. My grandpa is a introversive person, quite good at play board games, but mahjong is not his thing, and he also thought that sitting for such a long time is not good for their health, especially for old ppl. From my aspect of an adult many years later, it's a good thing to play Mahjong, because in this way, you would have formal reasons to have your friends over home, so that elders can have chance to communicate and social. It do helps maintain mental health.
This is the most impressive scene in my mind at that time.
In my small brain, I think Nana was a great chef at that time, because I love the dumplings she made. Even each of them is really big for me, I can still have around 15 in a meal. I still remember the taste, as well as the receipt - pork, shii-take, dried small shrimps and green vegetables. You need to squeeze out the water, as a proper condition, so that after boiled them, they will still be compact, or the inside of the dumpling will loose. Grandpa will help to mix those ingredients together, a long time after that, I noted that it was the grandpa who made the stuffing, but in my little mind, the smell of the dumpling always stands for grandma ( No offense to my grandpa, I still love you, haha) and my childhood.
