Good morning readers!
How do you know when are old? When your friends started passing away. That's what I heard from some of my American friends.
Yesterday I was shocked to learn a local TV nightly news anchor passed away. His name is Todd Tongen. When his wife couldn't reach him on the phone while traveling out of town, she asked their neighbor to go check on him. And he was found already dead in his home on Monday morning. Todd was 56 years old.
image.pngHe was a vibrant, physically active and happy looking person on TV. And he was an activist on many benevolent activities for the local community. I can't call him my friend, I only know of him since I don't watch TV too much, the only time I watch TV during the days is the morning news when he was reporting some times. I got used to his familiar face. And all of sudden, he's gone.
In an earlier interview, he said, "I've already skydived, bungee jumped, ridden on the back of a whale, flown with the Blue Angels and the Thunderbirds, so there's not a lot left on my bucket list," Tongen told Local 10 in 2015. "Maybe, ah, crochet a sweater or, you know, I would love to, you know -- travel would be big on my bucket list. I'd like to go to Bora Bora and I'd like to -- I'd love to -- be in another feature film. I'd like to be in a blockbuster film, even in the smallest role. I'd just like, you know, a big hit, so I could say, you know, take my boys to it, 'There's Dad.'" He said if he can use one word to describe his life, he can say that he's "funny", a funny and happy person. The interview was conducted 4 years ago. It's eerily strange since it seemed he's asked to summarize his life already.
He will be terribly missed by his family and the TV viewers. His passing also reminds me life is so fragile. We all have to cherish it while we still can!
Have a nice day! I will save the "cheers" for tomorrow.
