05: Where is your hometown?

My hometown is Hangzhou, a medium-sized coastal city in southeast China.

Traditionally, Hangzhou is well-known for its picturesque scenery, and it's always been a popular tourist destination for both domestic and foreign visitors. An old Chinese saying compares Hangzhou to an earthly paradise. It’s very pleasant to live in a beautiful city like this.

In recent years, Hangzhou-based top internet companies like Alibaba have made it a major technology powerhouse in China, which is also something to be proud of.

However, (I think) for local residents, Hangzhou is becoming less pleasant to live in. Traffic jams, air pollution, high housing prices are all big concerns, but I guess these are also problems for every major city in China now.

Personally, I still think Hangzhou is a great city. And because I was born and brought up there, for me, it’s always a special place that brings back nice memories.
