Do you know that you could have your DNA tested nowadays? I've done that no long ago. The test was conducted with a test kit that I received as a gift. But the things that I didn't realize were you may get a lot more information than you expected.
I used to think people do this kind of tests to find out their ancestry background. It's nice to know where you've come from, right? But with modern technology, not only "they" can find out where you came from, but also map your DNA to find out the defects and advantages of your DNA information, etc., the "whole nine yards".
When I filled up the test application form I had to make a decision and let the testing company know whether I want to know some of the important results. These include genetically inherited disease such as cardiovascular disease, high blood pressure, arthritis, etc. and about 40 known DNA markers that may cause cancer. Sounds pretty frightening, isn't?
It was interesting that the testing company's website, there was a warning to the applicants who have to make a decision: "Once you know the results, there is no way to unknow them.
