本次的精读笔记选择是“Diary of a Wimpy Kid”系列丛书，中文叫《小屁孩日记》。因为之前在国外看到很多小朋友都会拿着这套书看，又看到国内一些英语达人推荐，我也尝试看了看。其实我并不是一个喜欢看儿童读物的人，但是看了之后才明白为什么这套丛书深受好评，而且牛人们也会推荐用这套丛书学英语。
1）这本丛书以一个青少年日记的形式，内容非常幽默，而且配以插图，读起来生动有趣；
2）现在共游11本，但是每本篇幅不长，阅读起来比较轻松，而且因为是针对儿童，也比较简单易懂；
3）虽然简单易懂，但是不代表没有值得学习的，书里很多很地道而又实用的英文表达，我们可以借鉴并且以后用到自己的口语和写作中去。
说了这么多，我们开始读吧。

First of all, let me get something straight: This is a Journal, not a diary. I know what it says on the cover, but when Mom went out to buy this thing I specifically told her to get one that didn’t say “diary” on it.

英文解释：before doing anything else
Comment: 同样表示首先的还有first; in the first place; in the first instance; first off; (the) first thing; above all; for one thing; for a start; to start with; to begin with，使用不同的词组可以多元化我们的写作。
get something straight 把事情讲清楚，弄清状况
英文解释：to correctly understand something
e.g. We need to get something straight.
我们要弄清楚一些事。
journal: 日记，日志
英文解释：A journal is an account which you write of your daily activities.
comment: journal vs. diary
两者意思相近，journal更加正式，并且偏向于记录事情本身，diary则口语化一些，除了记录事情本身，有时也会加入自己的每日心情，一般认为女生记日记更常用diary.
say 告知，宣称，表明
英文解释：You can mention the contents of a piece of writing by mentioning what it says or what someone says in it.
e.g. 'Highly inflammable,' it says on the spare canister...
备用罐上写着“高度易燃”。
specifically 特别地，专门地
英文解释：You use specifically to emphasize that something is given special attention and considered separately from other things of the same kind.
e.g. advertising that specifically targets children
专门针对儿童的广告
a magazine aimed specifically at working women
专门面向职业妇女的杂志
Comment: 这个词挺实用，可以在表达专门/特别做某事，或者表达针对某类人群的产品的时候使用。
Great. All I need is for some jerk to catch me carrying this book around and get the wrong idea.
The other thing I want to clear up right away is that this was mom’s idea, not mine.
But if she thinks I’m going to write down my “feelings” in here or whatever, she’s crazy. So just don’t expect me to be all “Dear Diary” this and “Dear Diary” that.

carry sth. around 随身携带，带在身上
e.g. In some places, people carry around objects to ward off evil or bring good luck.
在一些地方，人们会随身携带一些饰品给自己辟邪或招来好运。

clear up 澄清; 解决
英文解释：To clear up a problem, misunderstanding, or mystery means to settle it or find a satisfactory explanation for it.
e.g. We ought to clear up problems arising from the old contract.
我们应该清理一下老合同中出现的问题。
expect sb. to do sth. 指望某人做某事
e.g. He can't always expect his colleagues to prop him up.
他不能总指望同事们支持他。
“Dear Diary” this and “Dear Diary” that “亲爱的日记”来“亲爱的日记”去的
Comment: 一般女生写日记会在开头写Dear Diary。…this…that是比较口语化的表达，但是很生动，可以学习用这种句型来表达同类型的句子。
