1-阅读感悟

(1)人的性格能如何影响一个朝代、一段，在这章中，我们似乎能窥见一二。上至皇帝的性格，王安石的性格，小到看门人等的性格，无论身份地位如何，只要处于历史的节点，个人的选择就会被放大，人性的弱点和丑陋也会被放大。

(2)遇上王安石，对苏东坡到底是好是坏？王安石变革，对朝代命运来说必然是坏事，从微观上看，对苏东坡的个人命运来说也是坏事，因为他无法施展抱负，政治上受迫害。但，这却成为他品质的炼金石，成为他流芳百世的关键。他也因此留下了许多杰作和真知灼见。比如，在苏东坡上递的letters中，苏东坡阐述了很多亘古不变的治国之道。

在本章中也可以看出制度建设的重要性，一个国家依靠一个人的贤明与否来决定命运是不可靠的。

(3)苏东坡写文章喜欢用比喻，例如“It is useless for a man to ride out to the forests with a pack of greyhounds and announce to the world, 'I am not going hunting,' or for a man to go with a fish net to the lakes and declare, 'I am not going fishing.' It would be much better to stop the rumors by throwing away the fish nets and sending home the hunting dogs.”

(4)林语堂写作也有自己的习惯，比如有的用法一致在不断重复，还有意思和读音上的对称用得乐此不疲，比如"unmoving and immovable to the end".

②dismiss

文中用了多次，主要用了第二个意思，解除或开除，常用搭配是dismiss sb from sth。

③spell

原文是“it spells his ruin”。

spell意思有很多，除了有常见的拼写意思外，还有可以表示“招致，带来麻烦”。此外，spell还可以做名词。
