UMG Signs Netease Deal and Launches Label With Tencent Music

Universal Music Group (UMG) announced Monday that it has signed multi-year direct licensing agreements in China with both Tencent Music Entertainment (TME) and its competitor NetEase Cloud Music, breaking the past precedent of signing exclusively with the former. 环球音乐集团(UMG)周一宣布，它已与腾讯音乐娱乐(TME)及其竞争对手网易云音乐(NetEase Cloud Music)在中国签署了多年的直接授权协议，打破了以往仅与前者签署协议的先例。

The move signals a shake-up in the major labels’ approach to the Chinese market.
