Lesson from the Moon
When the moon is fullest, it begins to wane. When it is darkest. It begins to grow.
This is a Chinese proverb. There is a calm wisdom in this old saying that impressed me when I heard it first from a monk in a temple.
It has often helped me to maintain a good measure of carmness under stress and hardship as well as when some unexpected success or good luck might have made me over- excited.
There is a hope and relief in the sure knowledge that even the darkest hours of pains and troubles won't last, and warning against overestimating the passing glories of wealth, power and great fortunr. A warning and hope, not only for the individual, but for government, nations and their leaders, a brief summing up of all that history and human experience can tell us. And beyond all that we might hear in it an echo of the law and order that holds our universe in safe balance.

月盈则亏，晦则明。
这是一句中国谚语，最初是寺院中的一个和尚告诉我的这句中国古话，当时给我的印象很深。
这实在是一句至理名言，蕴含着人生的智慧。从那时起，每当我遭遇坎坷困苦，或者遇到可能使我过于兴奋的成功或好运的时候，这句话都曾帮助我保持镇静，泰然处之。
这句话提示我们，不论痛苦和忧患的时刻多么黑暗，也不会长久持续下去，因而使我们感到希望和安慰，同时也警告我们，财富，权力。和鸿运当头的荣耀，都只是过眼烟云，不可过于重视。个人如此，国家和政府领袖亦然。
这句箴言所提供的希望和警告，实在是整个历史和人类经验的结晶。除此之外，我们还可以从这句话里面，聆听到使宇宙保持平衡状态的法律和秩序的回声。
这就是中国古老的谚语，月盈则亏，水满则溢。
也是告诫我们，得意时莫张扬，失意时不慌张。
人的一生就像一个正弦曲线，有升有降，正是人生常态，没有人会一直待在谷底，也没有人永远站在高峰。
站在谷底的要奋力往上爬，站在高处的也不可狂妄自大，因为还有一句话，叫做“一山更比一山高。”
现在这个世界，做人都要讲究低调，无论何时何地，都不可过于张扬。
好像记得西方有一句谚语，一切都会过去。痛苦也罢，幸福也罢，在人生中都是昙花一现。
不可纠结于过去的事情，毕竟Tomorrow is another day。
