18.21-《超越感觉》-形成判断-避免夸张

If you want your judgment to stand the test of scrutiny by others, avoid all exaggeration.
如果你想让你的判断经得起别人的推敲，就要避免夸张。

• When you cannot be certain your judgment is accurate, you should tend to err on the side of understatement rather than overstatement.
  当你不能确定你的判断是否准确时，你应该倾向于轻描淡写而不是夸大其词；

• In other words, you shoud argue the more modest interpretation, the less extreme conclusion.
  换句话说，你应该论证更温和的解释，不那么极端的结论；

• That way, if you are wrong as every human will sometimes be you will at least have the saving grance of having demonstranted a sense of control and restraint.
  这样的话，如果你像每个人有时会错的那样，你至少能表现出控制和克制的风度。
