Most of us know one of more people for whom every occasion is "memorable", every problem is a "crisis", every enjoyavbble film is "worthy of an Academy Award nomination", and every attractive new car or fashion is "incomparable". To such people nothing is merely good or bad - it is the best or worst. Their vocabulary is filled with superlatives. When someone is late for an appointment with them, they wait an "eternity". When they go to the dentist, the pain is "unbearable". Their debts are "titanic".
