Jack thought if even his brother who used to be nice could be that mean, a kid like August won’t stand a chance in middle school.

Yes he did.
He got used to the face gradually. And then he found that August was funny and smart. What he said usually made Jack crack up. When Jack copied August’s homework and was punished by the teacher, August would explain for him to protect him.
3. Did August forgive Jack? What do you think about it?
Yes, he did. I think August is very kind. If it were me, I wouldn’t forgive a person who was treated by me as the best friend said so mean stuff about me to others.
