这几天通过某英文杂志的阅读，我赫然发现，不少国外名人，尤其是科学巨匠，在他们身上往往体现出两种截然相反的品质，即粗心与细心、认真与马虎合而为一，却不影响其人格的光辉闪烁而独树一帜，彪炳史册。
众所周知，牛顿因其万有引力的发现而享誉全球，名闻遐迩。然而，在科学上探索严谨细致的他，却在生活中显得有些粗枝大叶。下面这篇节选的文章就饶有风趣地说明了这一点：
Once Newton invited a friend to a dinner at home.When they were ready to eat, Newton left to get a bottle of wine.But after his friend had waited for a long time,Newton still didn't come back.Finally his friend found Newton in his lab. The reason was that when Newton was going to get the bottle of wine,he suddently had a new idea for the experiment he was doing, so he completely forgot his friend and the dinner. There was another time when Newton was leading a horse up a mountain, holding the rein in his hand.While he was walking, he kept thinking of problems he had met in his studies. When he got to the top of the mountain,he found that the rein was not in his hand and that the horse was gone.
文中说，牛顿曾邀请友人在家晚宴，就要开始的时候，他说去拿瓶酒来饮。结果朋友左等右等不见其身影，最终却在实验室里发现了他。原来牛顿去取酒的时候，他对所作的实验忽然有了灵感，于是就彻底忘了朋友及晚宴的事。
文章还称，有一次，牛顿牵着马上山去，边走边考虑研究中遇到的难题。待他来到山顶时，却发现手中的缰绳不见了，马也不知去向。
无独有偶。相对论(Theory of Relativity)――广义相对论与狭义相对论的创立者，世界闻名的科学家爱因斯坦先生亦是如此。他不拘小节，经常性粗心大意，忽视了对自己的装扮，根本不理会自己名人的身份。正如作者下文所言：
As a child, she suddently saw a funny-looking man coming toward her on the street." I remember ," she tells her children now, “How wild his white hair looked-as if it had been electrified.He was short.His clothes seemed to be just pulled on to keep him covered, like a blanket to keep one warm. He had a big nose, a short, thick moustache, and deep-set eyes. He was starting, thinking.He almost knocked me down before he saw me. He gave me a friendly smile,then he walked on and went on thinking. I noticed he had on bedroom slippers.He had forgotten to put on his shoes. He looked as if he had just stepped out of my book of fairy tales and had passed me like a spirit.”
文中，作者自称曾在街上看到一个相貌古怪的人向她走来。他头发蓬乱，电触似的，穿在身上的衣服如同一个人裹着毯子取暖一样，并且胡子拉碴，眼睛深陷。走在路上思考着什么，差点把作者撞了。他穿着拖鞋，连正儿八经的鞋子都忘了穿了。他看上去好像刚从作者的童话故事中走出来，幽灵一样从其身旁走过去。――而此人正是阿尔伯特·爱因斯坦。
有关于爱因斯坦生活马虎的记述还有一节，恰如下文所述：
Once Einstein was waiting for a friend at a bridge. While waiting, he became lost in thought. It started to rain. The rain kept on for some time. When Einstein took out a piece of paper from his pocket to write something down, the paper was wet and then he realized that it was raining. His clothes had become soaked in the rain. But after he put the paper into his pocket, he again forgot he was standing in the rain.
作者在文章里说，一次，爱因斯坦在桥上等一个朋友，正等的时候，他陷入了思考之中。谁知下雨了，而且持续了很长时间。爱因斯坦浑然不知，竟然从口袋里掏出纸来准备写些什么，发现纸张潮了才意识到下雨了。由于身在雨中，他衣服全湿了。尽管如此，在把纸张装进口袋之后，他又忘记了自己正立在雨地里。
两位科学巨匠尽管在待人接物上、在生活细节上缺乏应有的品质――细心，然而，因其卓越的科学贡献，同时也因没有损害他人利益而愈发熠熠生辉，或者说，粗心的品质对他们的影响效应并不大，人们认可的还是其主流品质――对科学一以贯之的细致与严谨的态度。
同样是名人，反观国内某些著名人物的“粗心大意”对其的影响效应则要远远大于其工作上的认真了，从而令他们黯然失色，一落千丈。知名作家宁先生“一不小心”爱上了吸毒而锒铛入狱，知名节目主持人毕先生因自己的言语“粗鄙不堪”而岗位不保，知名演职人员黄先生因其行为放荡“钟情嫖娼”而跌入谷底……
无论工作还是生活，我们都要保持良好的品性――细致谨慎，如果在待人接物上出现无伤大雅的“粗枝大叶”倒也情有可原，而一旦被名誉冲昏了头脑，主次不分，是非不分，细心不足粗心有余，最终发展为为所欲为的狂妄之徒，目无法纪的败类，那就走向了人生的对立面，真的到了这个地步，神仙也救不了他――亡羊补牢，于事无补。
