改写从句的方法与步骤:
1、省去从句前的连词。因使用非谓语变成了简单句,不需要连词了。
2、判断从句中的主语是否与主句的主语一致,一致的话就省略,不一致的话,以主语的格式保留下来,通常被称之为“独立主格”。
3、判断从句中的主谓之间关系:主动还是被动。主动用-ing形式,被动用-ed形式。
实操
(1) Before they graduated from the university, they had found the job in the company. ----Graduating from the university, they had found the job in the company.
解析:本句中before是引导时间状语从句的连词,省略。从句中主语they与主句主语they一致,省略。They 与graduate 之间的关系是主动,即可使用--ing形式。
(2) If you park your car in the wrong place, a traffic policeman will soon find it. ---You parking your car in the wrong place, a traffic policeman will soon find it.
解析:本句中If是引导条件状语的连词,省略。从句中主语you与主句主语a traffic policeman不一致,不能省略。You 与park 之间的关系是主动,即可使用--ing形式。You 在此被称为独立主格结构。
(3) When the city is seen from the mountain, it looks even more beautiful. ---Seen from the mountain, the city looks even more beautiful.
解析: 本句中When是引导时间状语从句的连词,省略。从句中主语the city与主句主语it一致,省略。由于主句的主语it 是指代the city,如果city省略掉,指代会产生不清的问题。所以在改写时可以作适当的主语转移。从句中the city与is seen谓语之间的关系是被动,即可使用--ed形式。
(4)They hurried up to the bus-stop so that they could catch the bus. ----They hurried up to the bus-stop in order to catch the bus.
解析: 本句中so that是引导目的状语从句的连词,省略。从句中主语they与主句主语they一致,省略。因非谓语中动词不定式结构具有表目的的作用。故使用to do结构。
