Wasted Famous Sentence -- "

Some people read Lao Tzu to understand the phrase "All the world knows that beauty is beauty, and Si Qiji is evil".

They think that the idea conveyed by this sentence is "Everyone knows that beautiful things are beautiful because ugly things exist".

    And I think that's too far-fetched.

From the literal translation, the first half of the sentence is barely acceptable, while the second half of the sentence is simply groundless.

    "Siqiji" means "this is ugly".

Why should we say "this is because there is ugliness"? Where can we interpret the meaning of "being"?

Such simple sentences are thus spoiled.

Lao Tzu's idea to express in this sentence is very mysterious, not only a few words can be explained clearly.

I would like to make a general correction: if the whole world thinks that something is beautiful, then it is also an ugly thing.

    Focus on understanding, that's all.
