When I was younger, my older brother often shared stories about his computer science classes at university. I remember always being amazed by how technology drives innovation and solves real-world problems. His excitement was infectious, and over time, I became interested about the field of technology. While technology is playing an increasingly important role in making my own life more efficient, I am also wondering how it can be used in other settings, such as business. As I started exploring the field on my own, I became interested in how information systems and data technologies can be used by businesses in decision making and problem solving. I now know that the intersection of technology, data, and business is what I wish to explore in the future.
With this goal in mind, I have chosen academic subjects that can give me a strong foundation in technology and problem-solving. For example, Physics and Chemistry taught me the importance of logical reasoning and precision. In addition, ICT is the most exciting subject for me. In class, I got hands-on experience learning programming in Python, which gave me a glimpse into how data analysis and automation can solve complex problems. For example, I worked on a small project that included writing scripts to process and visualize data, which gave me a real sense of how businesses might use technology to make informed decisions. Also, I learned about databases and network structures in class, which gave me an understanding of how organizations rely on information systems to operate efficiently. These experiences have been eye-opening and made me eager to learn how to apply such technologies on a much larger scale in the business world.
Beyond the classroom, I have been developing skills that I know will help me in the future. For example, as the vice president of the science club at school, I have organised events that brought students together to discuss innovative ideas, including renewable energy solutions and the ethics of artificial intelligence. I have worked with my peers on different projects and shared my interest in technology with them. This leadership experience taught me the importance of communication and creative thinking, and helped me to grow into a more well-rounded and confident person, which I know will be crucial as I step into university life.
Studying information management for business at university would be the next step in my journey. What excites me the most about Information Management for Business programmes is that it combines two of my areas of interest, which are technology and solving practical problems. In particularly, I am interested in how artificial intelligence is helping businesses to solve operational challenges. I want to be part of this transformation, finding ways to use technology not just to improve efficiency, but to create caring and sustainable impact for people. I want to deepen my understanding of how information systems drive business decisions and explore how technology can make organizations more effective and future-ready. With my academic foundation, hands-on experience, and leadership experience, I am confident I will contribute to and grow at university. More than anything, I am excited to gain the skills I need to help bridge the gap between technology and business, and to make a difference in the ever-evolving digital landscape.
