新鲜出炉的NAR文章：Cell Model Passports—a hub for clinical, genetic and functional datasets of preclinical cancer models Published: 27 September 2018 ，位于英国的sanger研究所的科研团队详细整理了目前常见的科研细胞系的多种资料，并制作网站共所有科研人员查询浏览：cellmodelpassports.sanger.ac.uk, 可以说是非常贴心了。
背景知识
细胞系一直都是抗癌药物研发的重要材料，随意举例如下：
- the epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) inhibitor gefitinib for the treatment of non-small-cell lung cancer
- inhibitors of the protein kinase BRAF in melanoma
- anaplastic lymphoma kinase (ALK) inhibitors for ALK-fusion positive lung cancer
类似的成功案例数不胜数，而且在非癌症领域应用也不少。
相关的癌症细胞系药物数据库也有不少，如下：
- Genomics of Drug Sensitivity in Cancer (GDSC) project based at the Sanger Institute
- the Cancer Cell Line Encyclopedia (CCLE)
- the National Cancer Institute-60 (NCI-60) cancer cell line screen
- the Cancer Therapeutic Response Portal (CTRP)
但是细胞系经过了这么多年的使用和演化，有几个不容忽视的缺陷：
- 不同细胞系交叉污染
- 细胞系称呼太多
- 部分细胞系关键临床信息丢失
- 培养条件不同导致遗传漂变
所以迫切需要可信的人工整理，而且非常多的细胞系有了NGS组学信息，但是却分散在各大数据库，而且不适合非生物信息学研究者学习。
为了解决这些困难，作者团队创建了：Cell Model Passports; cellmodelpassports.sanger.ac.uk.
