学习内容基于现象英语的每日一词

看到这个词，就想到“天气”，但想今天应该学的不是它名词形式，而是其动词形式。这类我们熟悉其名词形式，而对其动词形式比较陌生。在某些语境下，往往这个动词形式用着就显得很微妙。 weather就是一例。

基础

英英：to deal with or experience (something dangerous or unpleasant) without being harmed or damaged too much
例子：The company has weathered the recession.

进阶

weather作为动词有两个意思，今天学的是其中的一个：经受住，渡过(难关等)。表示这个意思时，类似的withstand, brave, come through, endure, overcome, resist, ride out, stand, survive，它更强调在危机或危险下存活下来。

这家公司从经济萧条中挺了过来，可以说：
The company has weathered the recession.

政府渡过其最严重的政治危机，可以说：
The government has weathered its worst political crisis.

TE写德国经济时用到这个词：

Some economists think households are preparing to weather a downturn; others see an ageing population preparing for retirement.
