• thingy
  口语中常用到的，（用来指代不知其名或不愿用确切词汇或固有名称指称的人或物）那人，那东西，某某。

   ……what's his name, Sir Jack Thingy
   他叫什么来着，杰克什么爵士……
   Ask thingy over there, he will know.
   问那边那个谁，他知道。

• traffic jam
  交通阻塞；堵车

• short cut
  近路，捷径，快捷办法
     You can take a short cut across the field.
     你可以抄近道从田里穿过去。
     There are no short cuts to economic recovery.
     经济复苏没有捷径可走。

• bumpy
  道路崎岖不平的，颠簸的

• circus
  马戏团，马戏表演

短语

• bright and early
  一大早，大清早。
     He was up bright and early, keen to get started.
     他一大早就起来的，急着开始工作。

• set off
  出发，启程，动身
     I set off, full of optimism.
     我无比乐观地出发了。

• loads of
  很多，大量，类似于lots of，可以修饰不可数名词或者可数名词复数。
     I‘ve got loads of money……
     我有大把的钱。

• be stuck in
  陷入……，困在……
     We were stuck in traffic for over an hour.
     我们路上堵车堵了一个多小时。

句子

• I'll be straight round.
  我马上就到，类似于"I will be round straightway / immediately."，非常地道的口语表达。
• The traffic is still moving at the speed of a snail。
  交通行进速度慢得跟蜗牛一样。（这个表达也是很形象了!）
