单词

• jumble sale
  旧杂物义卖（为教堂、学校或其他机构筹款），美式英语中多用rummage sale。jumble和rummage均可表示用于义卖的废旧物品。

• smelly
  气味难闻的，有臭味的

• antique
  古物，古玩，古董

• tip
  我们平时比较常见的意思有小费，忠告，小提示等，但它也有垃圾场的意思，或者表示脏乱的场所。相当于美式英语中的garbage dump。
     Officers had found a large bread knife on the rubbish tip……
     警察在垃圾场发现了一把很大的面包刀。
     Their flat is an absolute tip!
     他们的公寓简直是个猪窝！

• chop
  切碎，剁碎，砍，劈
     Add the finely chopped onions.
     加入切碎的洋葱。

• fete
  露天游乐会，义卖游乐会（通常在户外举行，包括竞赛、娱乐及出售旧货或家制商品）

• raffle
  抽奖，抽彩

• hop
  单脚跳；跳上（跳下）；快速移动（“If you hop somewhere, you move there quickly or suddenly.”）
     My wife and I were the first to arrive and hopped on board.
     我和妻子是最早赶到登船的。

• splice
  绞接（绳子）；粘接（胶片，磁带等），英文解释为：
  If you splice two pieces of rope, film, or tape together, you join them neatly at the ends so that they make one continuous piece.
     The film will be spliced with footage of Cypress Hill to be filmed in America.
     这部电影要和将在美国拍摄的柏树山乐队的音乐片段粘接在一起。

• brace
  作名词可表达多重含义，如支架，托架，牙箍，大括号等

短语

• a tiny bit
  一点点，稍微
     She always felt a tiny bit sad.
     她总是感到一丝悲伤。

• for ages
  很长时间，是口语里比较常用的一个短语了，比如我们常说的“好久不见”：
     I haven't seen you for ages!
     我好长时间没见你啦！

• chop sth up into……
  把……切成……
     Chop the carrots up into small pieces.
     把胡萝卜切成小块。

• roll up
  到达，尤指涌向，涌到: If people roll up somewhere, they arrive there, especially in large numbers, to see something interesting.
     Roll up, roll up, come and join The Greatest Show on Earth……
     快来呀，快来呀，来一起看“地球上最精彩的演出”。

句子

• that's enough doing sth
  ……已经够了（用于制止不好的行为），别再……，请停止……，举个例子大家就明白了：
     That's enough backchat! You do as you are told.
     够了，别顶嘴了，照我说的做。
     That's enough noise!!
     吵死了!!
