I am writing to express my gratitude to you for what you have taught me and shared with me.
The Moment I stepped out of library on the August 3rd, I felt a sense of emptiness.Other CIPs shared the similar feeling with me, telling me that they were filled with sadness and reluctance which they had never had before. I knew clearly that all the wonderful things in the UK had come to an end. However, this happy ending marked a brand new beginning of our life and career.
When we were at the International Summer School, we all missed our Activate English Courses, without exception, because we have been so impressed by the professionalism and enthusiasm that our teachers showed. For me, you have been the one who have had the greatest impacts on me: English learning, pedagogy and attitude to life.
English learning as a skill not knowledge. For many years, many Chinese English learners learned what English is, its grammar and vocabulary, however, we learned it for taking exams, not for real use. It was in your classes that I practiced a lot how to use English. If using was the first step, then using in a correct andidiomatical way was the second step. How fortunate I was! Such realization was not too late for me.
Teaching English can be a form of art. Such isa consensus made by me and my CIPs colleagues after we have been learned at theELC. In my experience, you have been the unparalleled artist of teaching English At the ELC. Your delivery was inspiring, interesting and insightful, which enabled me to enjoy all the classes.
Your teaching inspired me how to learn. Since the first time I voluntarily compiled
the new vocabulary list for the class, I have developed the habit of collecting
and expanding my vocabulary in the same way. Without your request and reminder,
I would not have done this even if I am keen on learning and studying lexis.
Last but not least, the most memorial thing is your wakeup call in the first class. It Was not only a reminder in terms of English learning, but also a lesson for everything important in my life.
I will be flying back to China tomorrow and will begin my work. I will crack on learning and using English. I really hope that one day you can visit my city, Chengdu.
