Lesson 11  My foreign classmates

There are several foreign students in my class. John is American. He's from the United States. Laura is Spanish. She is from Spain.
Chen and Huang are Chinese, but they are not from China. They are from Malaysia. They are Overseas Chinese.
We are from different countries, but we all get along well.

我班上有几名外籍学生。约翰是美国人。他来自美国。劳拉是西班牙人。她来自西班牙。小陈和小黄是中国人，但他们却并非来自中国。他们来自马来西亚，他们是华侨。我们来自不同的国家，不过我们都相处的很好。

Note:
1: American 可作名词和形容词。名词是可数的。
2: we all 我们大家 we both 两者都
3: well是副词 get along well
4: but=though(句首)

Lesson 12 Where's Chen from?

A: Where's Chen from?
B: He is from Malaysia.
A: Really? He looks Chinese.
B: As a matter of fact, he is Chinese, but he really is from Malaysia.
A: That's very interesting.

A: 小陈是哪一国人？
B: 他是马来西亚人。
A: 真的吗？他看起来像中国人。
B: 事实上，他是中国人，不过他来自马来西亚。
A: 真有趣。

Note:
1: really 副词。 That's very interesting
2: as a matter of fact= in fact, as 作为，of 属于

Lesson 13. Nobody is at home

Nobody is at home at the Wangs' house. Mr. Wang is working in his office. Mrs. Wang is shopping at the supermarket. Tony is sitting on the bus. He's on his way to the gym. Tina is studying at the library.
Rover is not at home, either. It's running around at the neighborhood. It's not chasing Mrs. Lee's cat. It is chasing Mrs. Li!

王家没有一个人在家。王先生正在办公室工作。王太太正在超级市场买东西。托尼正坐在公共汽车上。他在去健身房的路上。蒂娜正在图书馆看书。狗儿来福也不在家。它正在住处附近到处跑。它并不是在追李太太的猫，它是在追李太太！

Note:
1: shop 是不及物动词，需要接介词for，才能接宾语。She is shopping for a new dress.他正在选购一件新服装。
2: at接小地方，如火车站邮局等。在...地方
3: 在公车，火车，飞机轮船上要用on, 但是taxi 要用in
4: not, either. 也不，用于否定句中。

Lesson 14. Why are you smiling?

A: Why are you smiling?
B: I'm thinking about school.
A: Why does that make you smile?
B: Because there is no school tomorrow.
A: Oh, I see.
B: Now you're smiling, too.

A: 你为什么在微笑？
B: 我正想到上学的事。
A: 为什么那会让你笑了起来呢？
B: 因为明天不上学。
A:哦， 我明白了.
B: 现在你也在笑了！

Note:
1: that 代词，指想到上学的事，所以前面用does
2: school 上学。前面不加冠词。 I go to school every day. 我每天都上学念书。I go to the school every day. 我每天去学校。

Lesson 15 Mrs. Lee's kitchen

There are mice in Mrs. Lee's kitchen! There is a mouse on the kitchen table. There is a mouse behind the stove. There are mice next to the refrigerator, under the sink and inside the cupboard!
Why isn't Mrs. Lee's cat catching the mice? Because it's in a tree. I'm staring at Rover with fear and shaking like a leaf.

李太太的厨房里有老鼠！厨房桌上有一只。炉子后面有一只。冰箱边、洗碗槽下，还有橱柜里面都有老鼠！李太太的猫为何不在抓这些老鼠呢？因为它在树上。它在惊恐的盯着狗儿来福，并且抖得很厉害。

note:
1: mouse->mice
2: with 带着（介词）with fear带着恐惧的心情
3: shake like a leaf 抖的很厉害
4: sink 洗碗槽
