“我太小，我太小了！”
"I can't reach the doorknob."
“没法够到门把手。”小狗闷闷不乐地说。
But you can reach the cookies on the table,"said Mouse.
“可是你能够拿到桌子上的小饼干呀，”小老鼠说。
"Please share one with me."
“请分给我一块吧！”
And Puppy did.
小狗这样做了。
"I'm too small!" wailed Puppy.
“我太小了，”
"I can't pull my toy box."
“没法拉动玩具箱，”小狗闷闷不乐地说。
"But you can pull my wagon full of dear ones,"
“可是你能够拉动坐满小宝宝的小车，”
Mrs. Bunny said. "Would you? "
“不是吗？”小兔的妈妈说。
And Puppy did.
然后小狗这样做了。
"I'm too small! " wailed Puppy.
“我太小啦！”小狗闷闷不乐地说。
"I can't climb the tree."
“我没法爬上树。”
"But you can swing from it," said Squirrel.
“可是你能够在上面荡秋千啊，”
"Please swing with me."
“和我一起荡吧！”小松鼠说。
And Puppy did.
小狗这样做了。
"I'm too small!" wailed Puppy.
“我太小了！”小狗闷闷不乐地说。
"I can't dig a hole big enough to play in."
“我没法挖个好玩的大坑。”
Chipmunk said," This is just right for my acorns."
“这个正好可以放我的橡果，”
"Will you let me use it?"
“可以给我用吗？”花栗鼠说。
And Puppy did.
小狗这样做了。
"I'm too small!" wailed Puppy.
“我太小了！”小狗闷闷不乐地说。
"I can't hammer on the workbench."
“我没法在工作台上钉钉子。”
"You can fit under it and fix the leg," Daddy said.
“你可以在下面把它的腿修好，”
"Will you?"
“可以吗？”爸爸问道。
And Puppy did.
小狗这样做了。
"I'm too small!" wailed Puppy.
“我太小了!”小狗闷闷不乐地说。
"I can't carry my chair."
“我没法搬动椅子。”
"But you can carry my sewing basket," said Grandma.
“你可以帮我拿着针线篮，”
"Please do."
“可以吗？”奶奶说。
And Puppy did.
小狗这样做了。
Mama helped Puppy get ready for bed.
睡觉前，妈妈帮助小狗洗漱，
"Today," she said,
"you have reached a cookie on the table,
她说：“今天， 你够到了桌子上的小饼干，”
pulled a wagon full of dear ones,
“拖动了装满小宝宝的的小车，”
swung on a swing,
“荡了秋千”
dug a hole for acorns,
“挖了一个放橡果的洞，”
fixed a leg on the workbench,
“修好了工作台上的桌子腿，”
and carried a sewing basket.
“拿起了针线篮。”
Do you know why?
知道为什么吗？
“Why?" asked Puppy.
“为什么？ ”小狗问。
"Because you are just the right size!" said Mama.
“因为你正好那么大。”妈妈回答。
And she gave Puppy a hug, a kiss, and a squeeze.
然后妈妈温柔地搂着小狗，
给了它一个吻，还有一个紧紧的拥抱。
