Location:
On the ankle, anterior to the prominence of the medial malleolus, in the significant depression just medial to the tendon of tibialis anterior when the ankle is extended (dorsiflexed).

Needling:
Perpendicular insertion 0.3 to 0.5 cun, or oblique insertion medially towards Shang Qiu SP-5 or laterally towards Jie Xi ST-41.
Action:
1. Spreads Liver qi and regulates the lower jiao. (疏理肝气，调理下焦)
2. Clears Liver channel stagnant heat. (清肝经之郁热)
Indications:
1. Pain and retraction of the genitals, hypogastric pain, shan disorder, cold shan disorder, seminal emission, seminal emission due to deficiency-taxation, seminal emission with dreams, difficult urination, the five types of painful urinary dysfunction, retention of urine.
阴痛，阴缩，少腹疼痛，疝气，寒疝，遗精，虚症之失精，梦遗，小便困难，五淋，尿潴留
2. Pain and swelling of the lower abdomen, abdominal discomfort after eating, periumbilical pain, difficult defecation, no pleasure in eating.
小腹肿痛，食后腹部不适，脐周疼痛，排便苦难，纳差。
3. Green complexion, sighing, jaundice, yellow body with low grade fever, low grade fever, malaria, goitre, dry throat.
面青，叹息，黄疸，身黄低热，低热，疟疾，甲状腺肿，咽干。
4. Lumbar pain, contracted sinews, numbness of the body, diminished qi, heaviness of the body, pain of the medial aspect of the knee, cold inversion of the feet, pain and swelling of the medial malleolus.
腰痛，肌肉痉挛，身体麻木，少气，慎重，膝内疼痛，脚冷，内踝肿痛。
辨析：
中封穴概括来说，可以治疗：1.腹部疾病，主要包括小腹疼痛（脐周部位）；2. 阴部疾病，主要包括阴部疼痛（包含各种疝病，淋症所引起的阴器，及周围疼痛）；3. 生殖系统疾病，主要包括泌尿问题和遗精问题；4. 黄疸病，伴随低温；5. 疟疾，伴随低温。4-5皆因肝胆经湿热引起。
中封穴所治疗的任何疼痛，应该都是肝经上肝气郁滞所引起的。但是肝气郁滞可以影响身体很多部位，中封穴主要是针对肝气郁滞引起的小腹部位疾病。
