There are five steps to make a PowerPoint. The first step is to brainstorm. To brainstorm means to come up with ways or ideas to solve a problem. As a teacher, I brainstorm possible teaching strategies before making a PowerPoint. We just write down whatever comes into our mind.
The second step is to outline. In this step, we choose main ideas from the last step. Actually, I have a hard time differentiate outlining and structuring.
According to the article, to structure means to arrange things clearly and logically, while to outline means to list main points. If you are good at structuring, your PowerPoint will turn out to be well-organized, or the other way around.
To design something means to decide how it will look. When designing a powerpoint, we change its visuals, fonts and text size. As a terrible designer, I usually download PowerPoint templates to design my slides.
After you've finished designing, you need to revise the PowerPoint, since there are still some details needed to be improved. When revising, I normally think about how to make the slide more engaging.
