和只能寄居在教堂里的老鼠一样穷，as...as 表示和...一样，be as poor as church mice 就表
示身无分文，一贫如洗，比如说：
When we first got married, we were as poor as church mice.

2. in the hole
财政出现危机，我们会含蓄地说赤字，在英文里会用到 in the hole 这个表达，来表示负债，欠钱，比如说：
I was something like $16,000 in the hole already.

3. tighten one's belt
这个用法相当好记，和中文里的意向一样，把皮带束紧，约束自己不要乱花钱，表示勒紧裤带，设法更节俭地过日子，比如说：
