不必在乎头顶的白云
Not care whether the white cloud above my head
是否依旧是一百四十多年前的那一朵
Is the same one as over 140 years ago
不必在乎脚下的浮桥
Not care if the pontoon under my feet
是否曾践踏过那场水战的波涛
Trampled on the waves of the battle on the river
眼前的白墙灰瓦与麻石巷
The white walls, gray tiles and stone alleys before my eyes
在五月的大雨后更显古韵悠长
Look even more ancient after the heavy rain in May
泡豆子茶，炸臭豆腐
Soaked bean tea and fried odd-odour bean curd
甜酒凉面口味鱼——小镇的热情
Sweet wine, cold noodles and flavored fish——the enthusiasm of the town
把对岸省城的喧嚣净化成江上的孤影
Purify the hustle and bustle of the provincial capital on the other side into a lonely shadow on the river

虽然不是踏月而来
Although I haven’t come here in the moonlight
靖港早已是我心中的一处蓬莱
Jinggang has long been a fairyland in my heart
太平天国的烟云已远去
The smoke and clouds of the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom are gone afar
湘军败后崛起从这里改写历史
After the defeat, the Xiang Army rose here to rewrite history
我的脚步在石阶上与古贤碰撞
My footsteps collide with ancient able men on the stone steps
我的目光在战场遗址触到剑影刀光
My eyes touch the flashes and shadows of swords at the ruins of the battlefield
一些被和风吹暖的词语正扬帆而起
Some words warmed by the gentle wind are sailing
一些被阳光返照的思想正阔步而来
Some thoughts that are illuminated by the sun are striding in

湘水在此处回旋
The Xiangjiang River turns here
历史也在这里沉淀
History precipitates also in here
当千年前的李靖与百年前的曾国藩
When Li Jing a thousand years ago and Zeng Guofan a hundred years ago
在历史的港湾相逢
Met in the harbor of history
英勇顽强不屈不挠便成为靖港的永恒
Bravery, tenacity and perseverance became the eternal spirit of Jinggang
江上狂浪，只向逆流而上者低头
Wild waves on the river only bow to those who go up against the current
江上清风，总为淡泊名利者耳语
Cool breezes on the river always whisper to those who are indifferent to fame and wealth
靖港，就像湘江之滨的哲人
Jinggang, like a sage on the shore of the Xiangjiang River
在波涛之上泅渡古今
Has crossed the ancient and modern times on the waves

At last I understand
靖港之幽阔大深远
The vastness and profoundness of Jinggang Harbour
既在波涛之上，风浪之中
Is on the waves and amid the storms
也在名利之后，淡泊之间
Also it is embodied in indifference to fame and wealth
