Many people have formed an unrealistic picture of learning a second foreign language after graduation. They often imagine learning a new language graduating from college to be hard, stressful and difficult to insist on. They don't have enough time to learn. For example, they have a heavy work schedule. Otherwise after work they have to do a great deal of housework and look after their family members. Yet the other side of the picture is quite the opposite. Learning a second language might be easier than the first one. For instance, if they have learned English, they can be easier to master another European language. Perhaps there is an element of truth in both these pictures, and whether to learn a second language is purely a personal pursuit.

If they have learned English, say / for instance, it could be easier for them to master another European language. / they will master another European language with greater ease. Perhaps there is an element of truth in both these pictures, and whether to learn a second language is purely a personal choice.

1. 写作(语言学习)的反馈很重要,能帮助自己及时发现问题、找到盲点(blind spot)。
2. 勤查英英字典,包括不确定的发音、词义、用法、搭配等。例如,表达交通拥堵可以用 (intolerably / unbearably) congested traffic 或 bumper-to-bumper。
3. 写作完成后注意通读和检查,关注行文逻辑和用词的准确、具象和简洁,避免重复。
4. 长句的写作练习可以先从临摹着手。若使用长句出现了歧义导致表达不清,建议切割成短句,以达意为先。
5. 对于每日一词的仿写和造句,力图 flawless, impeccable, error-free.
6. 背诵每周一段的例文,并增加输入的量和质,破解“量太少,质太低”的现状。
7. 每天从别人的作业中学点东西,通过给别人反馈和相互讨论来学习。
