今天看chapter11-12，Marva的学校最终只能设在自己家里。
教书是一回事，办学校又是另一回事。需要资金、需要应付政府检查...但是Marva扛下来了，她有坚定的信念。
Marva不赞同70年代美国的“激进”教学法（杜威的教育思想），关注学生不是说要抛弃传统的学科教学，造成教育质量的低下。
她在教室里随时关注学生的表现，主动给予帮助而不是让学生来找她。
她有搜集格言警句的习惯，并且每天写一句在黑板上，通过这种方式来激励学生，形成积极的态度。
处理学生之间的纠纷（比如打架），她从来不是指责学生谁对谁错，她认为错误在她，因为这证明了她的i教育是失败的。当学生明白这一点后，很多时候都能平息下来。一起打架事件后，Marva制定了“school creed”，学生每天早上都要朗读背诵。
而这些都需要老师付出极大的努力，时刻更新自己的知识，激发学生对学习的兴趣。
在纠正学生错误的举止上，分清是针对行为而不是本人。这一点在家庭教育乃至任何时候的批评都是一样的，对事不对人！
My approach is to address a fault without evenattacking a child’s character. Who they were was always separate and distinct from what they did. The gum chewing wasdispleasing, not the child. I might tell a child, “You are acting like a fool. Why? You are not a fool.” With that difference clearly established, the children could open themselves to my comments and criticisms.A child could give up the behavior without giving up any dignity or self-worth.
